Carers

Carers often need our help, support and understanding as much as members.

It is all too easy to overlook their needs but at Centre 81 we make sure that they too are recognised, given guidance and encouraged to meet their own aspirations.

We understand that:

  • taking a caring role can sometimes mean facing a life of poverty, isolation, frustration, ill-health and depression
  • many have given up an income, future employment prospects and pensions
  • others are trying to juggle jobs with their caring responsibilities
  • the majority struggle on alone and do not know that there is help available
  • access to information, financial support and breaks in caring are vital in helping them manage the impact of caring on their lives.

Disability can also impact on the relationship between you and the person you provide care for and lead to tensions.
